Here at DEMI+CO we do like to get a bit geeky from time to time and recently we decided to put together some information on the benefits of magnetic bracelets, magnets and the different types of magnets. We do get regular questions from customers who like to know details about the magnets, their strength and their benefits and much more. To make life a little easier we thought we would put all our knowledge and research together in to this blog post so that all our customers can see and read for themselves.

All our magnetic bracelets use the same neodymium magnets which are one of the smallest but still powerful magnets around. The strength of all magnets are measured by gauss, this is the unit of measurement of a magnetic field. One gauss is one maxwell per square centimetre of magnetic induction (magnetic field). All our bracelets have between 4 to 22 magnets depending on weather they are bangles or link bracelets (link bracelets have a bit more than the bangles). Our magnetic rings have 2 magnets per ring and each magnet has 2,400 gauss strength which gives enough magnetic therapy whilst being safe.

We hope you find this article useful, we hope the facts and research is interesting and insightful. We also hope you find the frequently asked questions and answers helpful as well, last and by no means least we hope you enjoy browsing our stunning womens health bracelets as well.

9 things you didn’t know about magnets.

  1. All magnets produce a force - Regardless of their size or strength, all magnets produce a magnetic field, this field can not be seen by a human eye unless you use iron fillings to show these fields.
  2. Metal isn’t always magnetic – only some metals will be attracted to magnets e.g nickel, steel and cobalt. Metals like gold, silver and copper are not actually magnetic same for plastic, wood and paper which are also not magnetic.
  3. There are three different types of magnets there are electromagnets, air core magnets and permanent magnets. Modern permanent magnets are divided in to five different types of magnets.
  4. The five different types of modern permanent magnets which are, flexible rubber, samarium cobalt, ferrite magnets, alnico magnets and neodymium magnets.
  5. Neodymium magnets are the magnets used in many magnetic jewelleries including our range. Neodymium magnets are very powerful of all the permanent magnets.
  6. Small neodymium magnets are able to lift weight in excess of 1,000 times their own weight even though smallest neodymium magnets weigh only 2g themselves.
  7. The strength of the neodymium magnets can attract through a 5mm thickness of finger which is one of the reasons why these magnets are used in jewellery making and also used by magicians for magic tricks.
  8. Neodymium magnets will not loose the magnetism unless they are heated to extreme temperatures or if they are damaged by a lot of water (if the coating has worn away) also if they start rusting.
  9. Neodymium magnets were only created in the 1980s and are now used for a huge variety of things not just jewellery but, fridge magnets, wind turbines, miniature power tools, generators and speakers.
