What is a sleeper earring?

Sleeper earrings, also frequently called starter earrings, are created to be worn by people who have had their ears pierced for the first time. They are named as such because they must be worn around the clock, which includes during sleeping time

Can you sleep with sleeper earrings?

The general rule of thumb is to avoid sleeping in earrings, with one exception: when you get a new piercing. But if your piercings are older, avoid wearing earrings made with nickel overnight, as well as large hoops and dangle or drop-style earrings. These could cause skin irritations and may be painful.

What are the best earrings to sleep in?

No squishing and stabbing earrings are considered to be good earrings to sleep in. Another difference is that they are never made from Nickel. The materials commonly used in making Sleeper earrings are Gold, Sterling Silver, and surgical steel.

Yellow Gold Capped Sleepers

Slightly thicker in size these small chunky gold hoop sleepers still have a thin part of the hoop that is inserted in to the ears. These unusual and thicker gold sleepers are incredibly unique and cute.

Are sleepers or studs better?

Newly pierced ears: Basically, the sleeper earrings have been designed for use by persons who just had their ears pierced. The studs are ideal for children, and they have screw-on backs that keep them well secured in place, while the hoops often work better as sleeper earrings for adults.

Are hoop earrings dangerous?

While oversized hoops have their place, please be careful with these earrings, they can cause injuries and may cause damage to your ears. From triggering mild infections to elongating ear lobes and possible splitting.

Do you shower with earrings?

You initially must remove your earrings and keep them dry and safe, as earrings can get damaged when they come in contact with liquid. Gently massage the earlobe with water and soap to clean the ear area.

What are good starter earrings?

And the first pair of earrings should be 18K or 14K yellow gold, surgical steel or platinum posts with screw-on backs, you can then move on to sleeper hoops or small hoop earrings but check with your piercing expert first.

12mm

We do advise to go for a smaller size if it is your first piercing or a new piercing and always check with the piercing expert. Our smaller sizes include 12mm, 14mm,16mm and 34 mm, our most popular size is our 12mm range as they are small enough to be safe but still big enough to give a nice bold look.

Are hoop earrings flattering?

Like any statement earring, hoops have an ability to draw the eye towards your face, but by being circular in shape they frame your face quickly and easily and are extra complementary to your jaw and cheekbones, defining your features with both the shape and shade they create

Are huggie earrings in style?

Cute, stylish and versatile, huggie hoop earrings are one of the hottest trends of the year. If last year was all about big hoops, this year we believe small gold hoop earrings or gold huggie hoops will be a big trend.

Ear piercings are very popular and common and although they can be less risky than other body piercings, they can still cause complications if not handled safely. For anyone thinking about getting their ears pierced, dermatologists and piercing experts urge people to follow these steps to avoid infection:

  • Always wash your hands before touching newly pierced ears.
  • Leave the earrings in your ears for six weeks or more, even at night. Removing the starter earrings too early may cause the piercings to close.
  • Regularly wash your ears with soap and water. Carefully do this at least once a day to avoid infection.
  • Twist the earrings a few times daily. This will help keep the pierced holes open.

Put rubbing alcohol on your ears. Using a cotton ball or pad dipped in rubbing alcohol, gently clean the skin around the piercings twice a day to keep away germs and prevent scabbing. You may also apply a thin coat of petroleum jelly around the opening.

After piercing your ears, keep an eye on them to make sure they don’t get sore, red or puffy and that the holes don’t ooze yellowish liquid. If any of this occurs and doesn’t go away quickly, see a certified dermatologist, or a medical professional as you may have an infection.
